Workshop

The Lights in Alingsås event begins with a workshop one week before the event opens to the public. This is when six international lighting designers gather with some sixty students from all over the world to develop and realize lighting concepts for the selected places or buildings in Alingsås. Over the years, this has included viaducts and schools, parks and ponds, facades of buildings, courtyards, etc. In short, the different environments and places you find in a town.
The students are mainly studying architecture and design. For them, the workshop week is an important contribution to their education as they get to work on full-scale projects with plenty of resources, together with the world's leading experts in the field of creative lighting design. Student electricians from the local high school are also involved in the workshop project by assisting the workshop participants.
